Global economy in delicate condition

THE head of the International Monetary Fund this week said that the world’s economy is “going through a delicate moment”. Speaking at the Economic Forum in Astana (Kazakhstan) Christine Lagarde noted that two years ago 75% of countries’ economies were growing while at the moment about 70% are slowing down or going backwards. She sees the next six months as crucial and talked of commercial tensions, seen as a reference to the burgeoning USA-China trade wars that may end up damaging both and knocking on globally. She also stressed the need for inclusive and sustainable growth, bringing the poor, women and the young into the frame financially whereby many of these groups of people are still regularly excluded.
