MORTGAGE UPTURN CONTINUES

The latest report published last week from Spain´s notaries says that the number of mortgages is continuing to rise.   The figures reflecting March saw a six point nine per cent increase in mortgages, compared to a year earlier, though sales figures year-on-year fell by two point nine per cent.   The report states that just over 25 thousand mortgages were granted in March at an average value of just over 136 thousand euros.   The number of sales and purchases in March reached over 50 thousand, with prices rising over 12 months by one point seven per cent.   After large growth figures, some experts believe the large upturns recorded in the last few years in the Spanish property market may be starting to level out, though there are the usual regional variations, as Alicante Province and the Murcia region continue to prosper above the national average.
