From planes to property

AIRPORT manager AENA, which is responsible for Valencia airport as well as those in Madrid, Barcelona, Palma and several others, is set to become Spain’s largest real estate developer. They have already announced plans to develop land by Madrid and Barcelona airports and have now launched similar projects at Valencia, Malaga, Seville and Palma de Mallorca. These are still in the consultancy phase but close to resolution with the results showing the best purpose for the land in question. At the two sites where the consultancy period has been completed office space, hotels and distribution centres are among the proposed new developments. This is on land of 2.2 million square metres in Madrid and about half that in Barcelona.
