THE private company that runs Torrevieja Hospital and Elche´s Vinalopó Hospital says that waiting lists for operations at their facilities are far lower than the average for publicly-run hospitals across the Valencia region.
Ribera Salud faces losing the contract to run health services in parts of the region in the autumn of 2021, with the Valencian government pledging to bring all health management under public control.
Valencian health department figures that go up to last month, show an average operation waiting time of 86 days in public hospitals, while in the two Ribera Salud outlets, the company claims that the waiting time at Torrevieja Hospital is is just 39 days, whilst Vinalopó clocks in at 45 days.
Ribera Salud has launched a major push to show off their apparent efficiency, and what they plan to do over the next few years if they are allowed to continue operating in the area.
That includes a pledge to build a second health centre for the Orihuela Costa.
