Cyclon hits Benidorm

One of the Costa Blanca’s premier water attractions opened its doors last week, promising an exciting new experience to visitors this Summer. Since its opening in 1985, Aqualandia, sitting in an elevated position on the outskirts of Benidorm has become a benchmark for waterparks in Spain. Always eager to innovate and stay ahead of its competitors, the park opened last weekend with a completely new ride on offer called Cyclon. The 200 metre long ride is officially classed as the longest waterslide in the world, as it descends with a hair raising series of curves, descents and falls, from a height of 36 metres, the equivalent of a 12 storey building. Perfect for adrenaline junkies, the ride ends in a giant funnel-like vortex that swallows the rider, giving them a feeling of zero gravity. Cyclon is expected to prove hugely popular, as the ride can be enjoyed by groups up to four people, sitting inside the giant floats. Hundreds of visitors, braved the unseasonal cool and rainy weather to take advantage of last weekend’s opening offers and enjoy the 20 rides, which include Verti-Go and Big-Bang. Aqualandia has a huge range of ticketing options including family discounts, multiple park offers and early bird prices. Full details of the park, which is now open daily throughout the Summer, can be found on its website www.aqualandia.net
