Weather hits record highs in Southern Spain
SOME parts of southern Spain have hit record high temperatures after several weeks of bad weather, coinciding with the May Day workers holiday. Parts of Almeria reached 34 degrees while Cordoba recorded 36 and northern Valencia registered 32 degrees in the Castellon area. While these were record temperatures for early May they are still a long way from the 41 recorded in Cordoba just three years ago in mid-May. The north of Spain also recorded temperatures in the mid-thirties, again records for early May. Few people were geared up for the dramatic change and those without a summer wardrobe were unable to shop due to the lockdown apart from online while almost all beaches were still closed, although are gradually opening now.
