SECOND HOME MARKET BUOYANT

PROPERTY SECOND HOME MARKET BUOYANT

Spaniards looking to buy a second property are unsurprisingly continuing to look towards areas like the Costa Blanca, according to the website property portal, donpiso.com

The company says that last year saw a notable increase in both Spanish and international properties with the Mediterranean coast leading the way.

The portal said that the average price of a holiday home in this region was around 200 thousand euros, and the average profile of a buyer was that of a couple aged between 35 and 49 years, with a rather substantial income of 3,500 euros per month.

"The market for buying and selling holiday homes continues to be booming, especially from the start of the year leading up to the summer”, said Emilian Bemudez, donpiso´s general manager.

”Over recent years, the number of people looking to buy a holiday home has steadily increased because of the better state of the economy and credit being granted more easily compared to before”, he added.

The real coastal bargains to be had, according to donpìso, are on the Costa Calida in Murcia, with average prices of around 150 thousand euros for a flat.

Prices on the Costa Blanca average out at 200 thousand euros, but that is a mere snip compared to heading south to the Costa del Sol where the average soars to over 350 thousand euros.
