Franco era torturer “Billy the Kid” escapes justice one final time

GONZALEZ Pachecho, a member of General Franco’s notorious Political Social Brigade due to stand trial for crimes against humanity including torture and kidnapping has died in detention after contracting Covid-19. He had spent years hiding behind legal loopholes as well as the infamous “pact of forgetting”, designed to allow modern Spain to move on and put the Franco era behind it. However, this meant many escaped any punishment for horrific crimes while others were allowed to hang on to great wealth accumulated under the fascist regime. Pachecho was nicknamed “Billy el Niño” (Billy the Kid) as the then young man seemed to act with impunity against political dissidents. When he died aged 73, he had not even been stripped of the numerous medals awarded to him for his “services to the country”.
