Derby delight for Reds

derbydel
MANCHESTER United chalked up their third successive derby win against their City rivals, a 2-0 result thanks to goals from Martial and Scott McTominay, the latter returning from a long injury spell with a last minute 40 metre belter. The result further helped a Liverpool team that hardly need it at this stage and are now 25 points clear after a 2-1 win at Anfield against struggling Bournemouth. Other teams at the foot of the table also struggled, with Watford, West Ham and Brighton all losing while Newcastle’s away win against Southampton makes them all but safe. In the Championship, Leeds 2-0 win against Huddersfield sees them go seven points clear of the play-off places, while a faltering West Brom could only manage a point against Swansea but remain second. In League One Coventry’s fourth win in five saw them open up a healthy gap at the top as Rotherham followed two draws with a loss and are now only two points clear of third place. Things are much tighter at the top of League Two with only one point separating Crewe, Swindon and Plymouth at the summit. At the foot of the EFL lowly Stevenage lost their ninth league game in a row and look certain to be playing non-league football next year.
