Big utility bill hikes during crisis

HOUSEHOLDS in Spain can expect to see increases on their utility bills of up to 50% while they are staying at home during the current health crisis. Working from home, extra cooking and increased use of electronic goods all add to the bill as well as heating. A household of four people can expect to see an increase in their electric bill by about 26 euros a month, according to Selectra, a price comparison and switching site. This includes an average €4 for the TV, €2 for the oven and €3 for laptops and other small devices. Water bills will also rise along with telecommunications, depending on the package you have and whether you are working from home. Unsurprisingly, demand in business has plummeted.
