Battered to death by her son
POLICE have arrested a 40-year-old Belgian man in Torrevieja (Alicante) on suspicion of killing his mother by beating her with a baseball bat. The woman lived on the San Luis urbanisation according to reports and it is also believed that the accused had a restraining order out against him, precluding him from visiting his mother, who was aged 81. The emergency services said that the man called them, saying his mother was injured after a wardrobe fell on her. The Local Police were first on the scene and the woman was already dead. They said that there were “very obvious signs” that her injuries had not been caused by the furniture. A British neighbour of the victim said that the detainee had well known behavioural problems.
