Petanque prizes handed out

PARQUE Eucalypto in l’Albir is one of the most popular venues for the l’Alfas del Pi Petanque League, which ended its season this month. Petanque is a form of boules played mainly, although not exclusively, by the older generations and that just needs a small court and a boules set to get going. This year 22 pairs took place in the event which started back in January, all of them members of the town’s Petanque Club. There was a multinational feel to the makeup of the players although three Spaniards, Fernando Cortes, Jose Perez Godoy and Antonio Zapatero walked away with the honours this year. As well as Albir other venues include the Sports Centre, the pensioners home and Parque Scandinavia.
