Open air museum works going well

MAYOR Vicente Arques visited the Villa Romana at l’Albir to see for himself how the half a million euro’s restoration and excavation work was progressing. Accompanied by Culture and Heritage Councillor Carmen Amoraga he was able to see the latest dig which is uncovering the living area of the 5th century settlement. He also viewed the new “immersive video experience” where people can find themselves transported to a Roman convivium - a feast for all members of society, not just the males and wealthy.   The Villa Romana was regarded as the Valencian Communities first open air museum when it opened to the public in 2011 and has since had more than 60,000 visitors, showing that l’Albir has more to offer visitors than just its wonderful beaches and gastronomy.
