Nicked on the beach

Lockdown binge drinker rescued from ditch A Madrid family are facing heavy sanctions after violating several rules pertaining to the State of Emergency after going to the beach in Javea (Alicante). The group of six – three young children, their parents and a home help – were spotted on Cala Ambolo by the Guardia Civil on Sunday which saw the best weather since the lockdown commenced. When told they couldn’t be there the parents said that “they had needed to take their kids out of the house”. As well as breaking laws on social distancing, essential journeys and attending a closed off area, Ambolo has also been closed for safety reasons due to landslides, something clearly signposted and a further violation. There has been resentment from many locals in resorts such as Javea where people from Madrid travelled to holiday homes to see out the crisis, despite the capital being the epicentre of the outbreak. Many allegedly drove down even after this was banned except for essential reasons.
