Lockdown binge drinker rescued from ditch
A 57-year-old man from Mallen (Zaragoza) is facing stiff penalties after ignoring State of Alarm restrictions to go on a drinking session and ending up falling off his bicycle into a ditch. The authorities were alerted at the weekend and found the man moaning in pain, covered in mud and clearly intoxicated. He was also showing signs of hypothermia and thermal blankets were used to try and recover his body temperature. They loaded him into an ambulance to take him to a hospital in Zaragoza but the Guardia Civil had to be called by the crew as he kept trying to escape. He was examined and found to be well enough to be returned home, where he was charged with breaking confinement rules. Further charges may follow.
