Less foreign buyers
FOREIGN buyers accounted for just over 14,000 Spanish property sales in the last quarter of 2019, a drop of 2%. This roughly reflected the overall sales situation, which saw a 2.3% drop in demand over the same period. British house buyers were still the largest sector (14% of the total) followed by the French (8%) while buyers from developing countries such as Algeria, Morocco and parts of Eastern Europe all increased their market share. Analysts say that these figures do not really give the sector anything to fear, but the first quarter figures for 2020 will be viewed with interest and a further drop may signal more of a trend.
