NEWS CRUZ ROJA´S BIG HELP FOR FLOOD VICTIMS

CRUZ Roja has revealed that they´ve helped 441 families in the Vega Baja region who were hit by last September´s storms.

The organisation revealed the figures at a special briefing held at their Provincial headquarters in Alicante City, attended by around 500 people.

In the audience were Cruz Roja volunteers and workers, as well as representatives of the emergency services and local charities who helped people with the after-effects of what happened five months ago.

Over a half million euros was raised by Cruz Roja to provide aid for around a thousand people in 19 municipalities including Daya Nueva, Dolores, Almoradí, Rafal, Callosa de Segura and Orihuela.

Over a thousand items of essential furniture and electrical appliances were distributed in addition to two thousand items of school materials for children.

Cruz Roja is also providing psychological care and assistance to 22 people who suffered from anxiety attacks after the Gota Fria, or who now even get worried every time they see any rainfall.

Cruz Roja president, Francisco Galvañ. told the meeting that their work has many months to go as families are continuing to come to terms of last September´s events.

Galvañ praised the work of Vega Baja charities in helping to distribute items to those who needed it most.
