Burgos man kept live bomb as “souvenir”

Burgos
THE Civil Guard opened an investigation after a man posted pictures on social media of a live Civil War bomb that he appeared to be keeping in his house as a potentially lethal souvenir. They were able to track the 56-year-old Burgos resident’s address via Facebook and went to interview him. Asked if he had the bomb, he gave vague and unhelpful answers so was asked to go to the Guardia HQ for further questioning. The following day he deleted his Facebook account, buried the device and contacted the Guardia to tell them where it was. A special squad uncovered the bomb and found that it had 365 grams of the explosive trilite and was fully armed. The man has been charged with possession of explosives and the authorities have warned that if any such devices are found they should not be touched, and the authorities informed. There are still thought to be hundreds, maybe thousands, of such devices still hidden across Spain, not just bombs but grenades, ammunition and guns.
