Valencian court changes Iglesias paternity ruling once again

THE ongoing saga about whether iconic 70s crooner Julio Iglesias fathered a love child over 40 years ago took yet another twist on Thursday after a court in Valencia revoked a previous ruling that had upheld the paternity claim by 44-year-old Javier Sanchez Santos. In the original case DNA was tested, believed to be from a discarded water bottle used by Mr Iglesias and retrieved by a private detective. This showed a 99% likelihood that Iglesias was Mr Sanchez’ biological father following an encounter with Maria Edite Santos at a restaurant. The revocation is based on the weight of previous rulings and the fact that there has never been a direct DNA sample taken from Iglesias, something he has always refused to do. Mr Sanchez and his mother have vowed to take the fight further, possibly to the European Supreme Court.
