Red Cross baywatchers

THE Red Cross have once again been awarded the contract to monitor Javea’s beaches this summer after a decision over the matter was made last week by the town council. The service will include first aid and general surveillance as well as lifeguard duties. This commences on weekends only from 1 June on the Arenal and 15 June at Cala de la Granadella and Playa Grava. From 1 July this goes to seven days a week throughout the peak season and then also includes the Benissero and Barraca beaches. The contract is worth €312,000 to the Red Cross, a non-governmental organisation and charity.
