Port to get an EU upgrade

JAVEA has been identified as one of the fishing ports that will receive money for improvements the Valencian Generalitat have confirmed. The majority of the funding will come from the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (FEMP) as it has been recognised that fishermen’s associations do not have sufficient funds to cover any such works.   The aim is to improve quality, increase traceability of landed products, have better energy efficiency and help with environmental protection as well as improving working conditions and safety for fishermen. The fish market, landing docks, moorings and the port infrastructure are all areas that will be targeted in Javea. Valencia’s Director General for Fishing and Farming said that this shows a clear commitment to the Valencian fishing industry, locally and within the EU.
