A POPULAR spot above Orihuela City has received a clean up from the local council, after loads of rubbish had been illegally dumped there.
Monte de San Miguel offers some excellent views of Orihuela and the Vega Baja region for walkers wanting to go all the way up to the castle, but has been plagued by fly-tippers.
Orihuela´s refuse services councillor, Dámaso Aparicio, said that the lower section of Monte de San Miguel had seen a large amount of plastic bags and containers dumped there by local residents.
Workers removed the trash at a cost of over three thousand euros, and then project also involved the local police, who used CCTV footage to identify potential offenders.
