YOUNGSTERS from Albir and Alfas received their certificates this week after attending a food handling course which was organised by the Department of Youth. The 20 of them who completed the course are now qualified to work in the food sector, one of the main sources of employment in the town, especially in the summer months when Albir Playa’s popular restaurants are all open. The course covered aspects of the industry such as transport, preparation, packaging, distribution and sales. It also addressed other issues such as food hazards, allergies and hygiene as well as teaching about the key regulations.
