BRITISH BUST UP

AN OFF-DUTY Torrevieja police officer intervened in a street assault which saw a British man attacking his brother, before both tried to resist arrest.   The fight on the narrow Calle Caballero de Rodas in Torrevieja city centre took place on Sunday May 12th at around 10.00 pm,.with the victim lying on the ground, as he was punched by his sibling.   By-standers videoed the incident on their mobile phones but nobody intervened until an off-duty police patrol car passed by, and an officer stopped the man from continuing to punch his brother.   The assailant resisted arrest, along with his “victim” brother, but local police and Guardia Civil reinforcements arrived and restrained them, after the officer suffered minor injuries.   The unnamed brothers, aged 30 and 31, were said to be drunk, and were then put through a “speedy trial”, where they were found guilty of assaulting a police officer and causing injury.   No details of their punishment were disclosed or whether they were tourists or Spanish residents.
