The PSPV de Calp have accused their rivals in the Partido Popular of “ostentatious” spending during the recent local election campaign. They have submitted an official complaint to the regional Electoral Board claiming that the PP exceeded the expenditure ceiling. The left wing PSPV specified several specific incidents including the closing campaign party which featured a Beatles tribute act and meal for 200 guests. A week earlier they allege they paid for food for 600 people at a political meeting in the Auditorium and a similar amount at a meeting in the Casanova university campus. T-shirts, special stationery, social network advertising, banners and leaflets in several languages were also highlighted in the complaint. They have asked the electoral board to request invoices for all the items and activities they have listed, presumably to calculate the total spend and whether it exceeded the electoral limits.
