Twenty youngsters from all over Alicante province participated in the XXIV Fogueres Xabia Chess Tournament for schools last week.All are members of chess clubs in their own municipalities, something the tournament aims to promote as both an extra curricular and school activity. There were five different age categories from under 8 to under 16 as well as one for parents with the winners being Francesc Fernandez, Kiril Videmov, Angel Perez, Andrey Smirnov and Toni Perez. The 2018 outgoing Fogueres Queen presented the winners with their trophies. By Simon Russell
