THE “Message in a Bottle” project that is touring Javea’s schools arrived at the Graull last week after moving on from the Trenc d’Alba primary. Supported and organised by the Oceanografic Foundation it aims to raise awareness about the general environment and caring for the seas in particular. The students participate in the project over the course of a week, looking for environmentally sound ideas and taking part in workshops. The focus is on recycling and reducing plastics in the sea, showing how pupils could do their bit by using reusable flasks instead of disposable bottles and paper napkins rather than plastic bags for their snack-time. The youngest children have also been learning about sea turtles and seahorses and the impact humans have on them.
