MANY people like to get out and about over Easter and locals and visitors alike will find plenty of events of a cultural nature in Denia over the first major holiday of the year. Friday 26 April is the last in the quartet of classical concerts that started in January. This features the Quartet de Corda, a string quartet who will be performing classics from the likes of Haydn, Mozart, Johann Strauss and Verdi. The venue is the theatre-auditorium with a start time of 7 pm and an entrance price of €15. Tonight, 19 April, there is a concert in aid of the Denia & Marina Alta Parkinson’s Disease Association, being held in the theatre at 7.30pm. Music with a classical Spanish flavour is from Luis Fierro and Los Musiqueros de los Jueves. Tickets are €10 with all proceeds going to the association.
There are various art exhibitions on at the moment and through the holidays, including the Art Centre l’Estacio competition which is displaying entrants at the station until the end of May. At the same venue, there is a show of works by Juan Caravaca (until the end of May) and at the Casa de la Cultura there is an exhibition by Enrique Salva until 25 April. Also in the Casa de la Cultura you still have until 20 April to catch the Solidarity Circle Painters exhibition on the subject of gender violence.
