BENITATXELL was the venue for the fifth over 65 Olympiad, attracting pensioners from all over the Marina Alta. 350 people took part, 80% of them female in an unseasonally warm May afternoon. This failed to stop them taking part in the various pursuits including throwing the basketball and dancing. Everyone agreed it was a good day with next year’s aim being to try and encourage more male athletes to take part. This year Denia, Pego, Javea, Pedreguer, Els Poblets, Ondara, El Verger and Benissa were all represented.
