Dutch football player, Mourad Lambarette, was killed after jumping from a cliff in Mallorca Spain as his girlfriend was filming it

Mallorcas Coast And Malgrats Islands 2 Hour Boat Trip 793264

THE tourist who plummeted to his death from a cliff in Mallorca last week has been identified as famous Dutch football player Mourad Lambarette from Arnhem.

On Thursday, May 12, Mourad Lambarette sadly died after falling from a 25-meter-high cliff into the sea on the Malgrats Islands off the coast of Santa Ponsa in Mallorca. The victim, 31, leased a boat and travelled out to the outcrop with his partner and children, the eldest of whom was four years old.

The Dutch football player was seen on camera by the victim's girlfriend at the same moment he jumped from the cliff; misjudging the jump, he slammed on the protruding rocks below before sliding into the sea and being washed away by the current.

A Maritime Rescue boat and helicopter were promptly dispatched to the scene, joined by the Guardia Civil's Special Group for Underwater Activities (GEAS), which subsequently discovered the lifeless corpse.

An autopsy found that he drowned after falling asleep in the water rather than being killed by the rocks. The deceased's family, who watched the awful episode, is receiving continuing psychological care.

This is the second tragedy in 24 hours to be recorded in Mallorca, and the vacation season has only just begun. Also, on Tuesday, a 31-year-old British man died after falling from a seventh-floor balcony of a hotel in Magaluf.
